Right!!!! a few other tricks i have learned.

Defrag: Defrag is a horrible program but it should be done once a
month.
Here`s how:
On start-up as the machine is reading how much memory you have,
keep hitting the F8 key............
It takes you to a menu.

Normal
Dos prompt
Safe............etc

click on safe and continue to start the machine..............
the safe mode will appear in all four corners of your monitor.
I hate safe mode but once there go to your system folder where ever
that is.........and start defrag.....
when finished reboot your machine.......sorted

SFC: System file checker..........
If you have a corrupt file and , hey you`ll get one from time to time
Go to RUN type in "sfc"
A menu will open and you can then run system file checker.
If it finds a file is either corrupt or missing it will prompt you
to replace the file.......
Do it from your windows disc........reboot.

WINIPCFG: windows ip configure.............
This is again run from "run"......type in "winipcfg"
This little gem tells you what your ip address is..........
Also you can release and renew your ip address.

MSCONFIG: ...........................
This program tells you everything about your sys.ini-bat-boot-bak-com
You can turn programs off (startup ones)
You can alter your system files , infact almost anything from this 
Dos program.

Remember: if your browser offers a choice, select: 
Save To Disk and save it on your DeskTop or other convenient location.

Some sites are sending this as you connected to them.
Here`s the fix.

If your internet tools is disabled then you will need to do this. 
Go to start menu, then select "run" then type in "regedit" you will 
need to get to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft
\Internet Explorer\Restrictions registry key. ...delete 
the "NoBrowserOptions" value.this will take away the restrictions 
on your computer. Be SURE you only delete this and nothing else.

Virus`s..............dated 10:49 PM 8/9/01................

There is a new virus out there it sends huge attachments from infected 
machines. You should NEVER open email attachments without scanning it 
first to see if it contains a virus, no matter who the email is from. 
Many people are infected with this virus and are not aware of it. 
You should check and make sure you aren't infected and pass this 
on to everyone you know. A fix for this can be found at Here

How to save to disc:

Remember: if your browser offers a choice, select: 
Right click on the object (piccy or text) and save picture as.........
if it is text go to the top and on edit select all and save as a txt
document like this........usually i save doc`s to my documents........
Save To Disk and save it on your DeskTop or other convenient location.
