Missile
Data
These
handy weapons are found in the Data Room on the Main Deck. Holding
down R allows Samus to fire them at unforunate individuals. The
amount of Missiles Samus carries is shown at the top of the screen.
Missiles can be regained by collecting Green X-Parasites. Missiles
are used to break .

 |
Super
Missile Data
Acquired
in PYR's Data Room, this downloadable Missile upgrade has three
times the magnitude of an ordinary Missile. |
 |
Ice
Missile Data
This
elemental missile upgrade is found in ARC's Data Room, and can be
used to freeze enemies and use them as platforms. It also means
you can slow SA-X down.
|
 |
Diffusion
Missile Data
This
powerful (though some would argue, useless) Missile upgrade is found
in AQA's Data Room. It can be charged up by holding R, then when
you fire, it lets out an elemental burst that spirals out to hit
anything on screen. It has a few uses, but we'll leave you to find
them out for yourself.

 |
Beam
Weapon
Samus's
basic arm-mounted blaster weapon. Can be used to pen doors, kill
enemies, and destroy some blocks. It is highly upgradeable.
|
 |
Charge
Beam Weapon
Acquired
from a Core-X in SRX, holding down B will charge up your blaster
and make it more owerful. If you spin jump into weak enemies while
holding your charge, you may well hurt them. Charge is lost if you
Morph Ball.
|
 |
Wide
Beam Weapon
Obtained
from a Core-X in PYR, the Wide Beam increases the spread of your
beam to 3 parallel shots. Enemies hit by more than one shot take
more damage.
|
 |
Plasma
Beam Weapon
Acquired
from the Plant Core-X in TRO, the Plasma Beam turns your blaster
fire green and enables it to penetrate multiple enemies until it
hits a solid wall. It is much more powerful than the normal Beam.
|
 |
Wave
Beam Weapon
Obtained
by defeating the B.O.X. Security Robot in NOC, the Wave Beam shifts
the wave pattern of your blaster and allows it to pass through solid
objects such as walls and security gates.
|
 |
Ice
Beam Weapon
The
SA-X uses a fully-powered version of Samus's Ice Beam. It can freeze
Samus until the point where she acquires the Varia Suit. Be on the
lookout!

 |
Bomb
Data
Bomb
Data is downloaded from TRO's Data Room. They can only be used in
Morph Ball, and they are also Samus's only method of defense and
attack while she retains that form. They can blast apart small blocks.
Samus's suit produces them automatically and she never runs out.
Bombs are used to break .
|
 |
Power
Bomb Data
Downloadable
from ARC's Data Room, Power Bombs are only carried in limitted supplys
(this number can be increased by finding Power Bomb Attachments).
Power Bombs are used from Morph Ball by holding R and tapping B,
and produce an explosion that fills a one-screen diameter around
the bomb. The explosion destroys all blocks that a normal bomb would
destroy, plus
blocks, and it reveals other types of blocks that can only be broken
in other ways .

 |
Fusion
Suit
Samus
begins her mission with the Fusion Suit, the remains of her surgically-removed
Power Suit. It is suspected that because of the suit's close link
with the X parasite, it's unique power to convert X parasites into
energy and weapons provides Samus with a much better chance of survival.
However, she is still very weak against Ice attacks due to the Metroid
Vaccine injected into her on the B.S.L research vessel. |
 |
Varia
Suit
The
Varia Suit data is stolen from the NOC Data Room by a Core-X that
somehow interfaces with the machinery that transfers data. After
defeating the X, Samus suit changes colour and is upgraded to the
Varia Suit. This protects Samus from extreme temperatures, such
as that found in ARC and PYR, as well as protecting her from the
Blue X. The suit does not protect her from immersion in lava, however. |
 |
Gravity
Suit
Upon
attaining the Gravity Suit from the boss Nightmare in ARC, Samus
is able to move freely through aqueous environments. Water no longer
hinders her jumping height of distance. The powers of the Gravity
Suit are cumulative with the powers of the Varia Suit, plus they
also enable her to survive immersion in lava. Even
this suit will not protect her from the green sludge found in certain
areas of the B.S.L Research Facility. |
 |
Power
Suit
Samus
does finally retrieve full Power Suit power, returning the suit
to its former level of protection and abilities. This has no real
effect in the mission apart from to change her appearance back to
the more familiar colours of orange and red.
|
 |
Morph
Ball
One
of Samus's latent abilities is to transform herself into a small
ball. From this form she can drop Bombs and fit through small pipes
that she wouldn't normally be able to squeeze through. She regains
the ability after defeating the first boss on the Main Deck. In
Metroid Fusion Samus will automatically roll into a ball
if she pulls herself up onto a ledge too small to fit through otherwise. |
 |
Hi-Jump
and Jump Ball
This
power is regained after defeating the first boss in TRO. It enables
you to jump much higher than normal, plus it allows you to jump
whilst in Morph Ball.
|
 |
Speed
Booster
Gained
after defeating Serris in AQA, the Speed Booster is automatically
used if Samus can get a long run-up. It makes her run at awesome
speeds and smash through special
blocks. If you press DOWN while running at Super Speed, Samus will
hold the charge for a second. If you then press LEFT, UP-LEFT, UP,
UP-RIGHT, or RIGHT and the A button, Samus will SUPER DASH in that
direction. This is an important move to master. |
 |
Space
Jump
Gained
by defeating the Spider-X in the Reactor Core of the Main Deck,
the Space Jump enables you to somersault indefinitely in mid-air.
This move supercedes the wall jump. It enables you, with proper
timing, to reach higher places that you could jump with just the
normal High Jump. |
 |
Screw
Attack
The
Boss that I call X-Ridley must be defeated in SRX to regain this
power. It makes you practically invincible while Space Jumping by
surrounding Samus with a shield of crackling energy. This power
enables to to break through
blocks. No normal enemy can withstand the power of the Screw Attack. |
