Character Creation

The Steps listed below are used to create a 1st level character only. New characters always start out being first level. To get started you will need:

An Altaire Da'aut Character Sheet *coming soon*
A pencil or pen
Scrap Paper
4 six-sided dice, or a dice generating program *could also use WebRPG which is under the links section*

Step One-rolling your ability scores

Roll all 4 six-sided dice twelve times. Each time you roll, remove the lowest die, and add the remaining three together and make note of it on the piece of scrap paper. Out of the twelve rolls, circle the highest 6. These will be placed in the 6 primary ability slots.

Step Two-Assign your Ability Scores

Place the 6 numbers in slots appropriate for the type of character you are creating. For Example if you were trying to create a diplomatic character you'd place one of your higher numbers in Charisma. Don't put a number in the Mag slot yet (Mag stands for Magic). If you need to know what an ability is or does please refer to the D&D 3rd edition Players Handbook *can be found under the Fantasy Supplements link* . Also for Altaire Da'aut rule changes to abilities click here.
Step Three - Choose A feat

At this time choose just a single feat. This is the only time that you may choose a feat from the "starting feat" list. This does not mean however that you can't choose a feat from the normal feat list.

Step Four - Choose a Race

Choose a Race from "The Book of Races" its located in The Library.

Step Five - Adjust your ability scores

According to the Racial modification listed under the race you have chosen, adjust your ability scores accordingly.

Step Six - Choose a Class

Choose a Class from "The Book of Classes" its located in The Library.

Step Seven - Record your Class, and Racial features

All are listed under the respective Race/Class

Step Eight - Take Starting Package, or choose your own skills

You may take the starting package of skills listed, or you may purchase *with points* your own. Your character at 1st level may have up to 4 ranks in a class skill, 3 ranks in a general skill, or 2 ranks in a cross-class skill.

Step Nine - Select feat(s)

If at this time you have any remaining feats you may use them. However you can no longer purchase "starting feats" at this point. Also at this point in time if you have any remaining feats you may choose to roll a percentage die. If it comes up 100 you may choose a feat from the "special feat" list.

Step Ten - Choose your Caste

This determines your social standing in life.

Step Eleven - Equipment

You can go with the starting package, or buy your own off the Equipment List.

Step Twelve - Fill in your physical description.

Its always a good idea to know basically what your character looks like.

Step Thirteen - Choose your Innate Elemental alignment

This determines if some magic items/weapons/armor/spells can be used by your character, and their potency. You have four slots and may choose an element up to four times. The Elements are Fire,Water, Wind, Earth, Dark, and Light.

Step Fourteen - Magical Roll

If you chose the starting feat "Gift of Magic" in step three this is where you make your roll. Roll 3d6 and record your roll, there are no re-rolls.

Step Fifteen - Number Crunchin' time

Determine your saving throws, hit points, AC, psi points *if needed*. Also make note of how much damage your weapon does.

Step Sixteen - Character Details Give your character a name, sex, and alignment. Decide what Gods your character worships. Detail your characters background history.
